BRITISH ARCHAEOLOGICAL REPORTS

The study and registration of artificial cavities means the documentation of underground structures. Just as Man started creating buildings on the surface of the Earth, over the course of time, he also perforated the surface thus creating new spaces and handing down structures which are essentially intact, which can be studied, restored and even utilised. In fact there exists an underground heritage, consisting of structures both built and buried underground over the passing of time. Our interpretation and understanding of such structures is a source of interesting information on our past, in favour of the present.

This series was created under the aegis of the Federazione Nazionale Cavità Artificiali (F.N.C.A.). Both the logo and the title were especially created by the editors of this series (info@hypogeanarchaeology.com; c/o British Archaeological Reports, 122 Banbury Road, Oxford OX2 7BP, England, Tel +44 (0)1865 310431; e-mail: info@barpublishing.com) and their use is reserved for the sole purpose of this product.

The aim is to create a base for the disclosure of relevant, scientific research studies, whether monographs, the works of various authors or documentation from conferences and conventions and a series of easily consultable tools for the development of artificial cavity research.

Censire e studiare le cavità artificiali vuol dire documentare le architetture sotterranee. Come ha costruito in superficie, così nel corso del tempo l’Uomo ha perforato il sottosuolo creando spazi e lasciando architetture sostanzialmente integre, leggibili e pertanto studiabili, recuperabili e talora fruibili. Difatti nel mondo esiste un patrimonio sia ricavato nel sottosuolo, sia rimasto in esso sepolto nel corso del tempo. La sua lettura e la sua comprensione forniscono interessanti dati sul nostro passato, auspicabilmente in funzione del presente.

L’edizione di questa serie è creata sotto l’aegis della Federazione Nazionale Cavità Artificiali (F.N.C.A.). Sia il marchio sia il titolo sono stati creati appositamente dagli editori di questa serie (info@hypogeanarchaeology.com; c/o British Archaeological Reports, 122 Banbury Road, Oxford OX2 7BP, England, Tel +44 (0)1865 310431; e-mail: info@barpublishing.com) e sono utilizzabili solo in rapporto a questo prodotto.

Lo scopo è la costituzione di una sede nella quale possano trovare divulgazione i lavori di ricerca meritevoli sul piano scientifico, siano essi monografie, opere di autori vari e atti di convegni e congressi, mettendo a punto una serie di strumenti di agevole consultazione ed utilizzo per lo sviluppo degli studi sulle cavità artificiali.
