I’m delighted to let you know that BAR Publishing was awarded the Academic and Professional Publisher of the Year 2022 award by the Independent Publishers Guild (IPG) at their annual ceremony in London on Wednesday. The IPG is the largest trade association for publishers in the UK and winning the Academic and Professional Publisher of the Year award is one of the biggest accolades that an independent publisher can receive in the industry.
The judges noted, “It’s a properly independent and well-run business that has mastered its niche…”
As a small publisher competing against publishing houses which are huge, multinational corporations it’s really rewarding to have this kind of recognition from outside our very focused area of specialism. The shortlist for our category included some true giants of the industry such as Bloomsbury Publishing and Cambridge University Press, and to be honoured alongside them is a testament to the hard work of the whole BAR network.
I believe our close-knit community of authors, researchers and librarians are at the heart of what we do, and I want to acknowledge and thank you for your contribution in this award.
